Dental research: regenerative approaches and AI in oral diagnostics Dental research has two rapid fronts: regenerative therapies and AI-enabled diagnostics. Regenerative research is advancing scaffold and growth-factor strategies for pulp revitalisation and periodontal tissue repair; while still early, pilot human studies show promising tissue responses that may reduce the need for invasive procedures. In parallel, AI image analysis is improving early caries detection and interpretation of radiographs — enabling earlier, less invasive interventions. Adoption in practice depends on validated performance across diverse patient groups and ease of integration into digital intraoral imaging workflows. For dental clinics, combining preventive digital screening with conservative regenerative options (as they mature) will provide patient-centric, less invasive care pathways.
